It makes sense that it would be available to doctors and scientists like this guy and others as intelligent as Stephen Hawking, so that they could stick around long enough to make more world changing scientific discoveries.
If immortality or super longevity is achieved it will not be available on a mass scale, I agree.
There is no hope in this scientific "fountain of youth". Even if these super geniuses in remote laboratories discover a way to extend human life, it's not as if we are all going to have access to it. The world is over populated as it is, this would double the problem.
